Going the Extra Mile: Vehicle Wraps to Increase Brand Awareness

Think for a moment – what is one routine that most every person in the world does every single day.  If you guessed travel, you’re right. It might be travel for work in a personal car or public transit or maybe a road trip for vacation…whatever it may be, people are on the road every single day.

Here are some mind-blowing facts to illustrate our point: the average driver travels approximately 13,500 miles a year.  In 2015, Americans drove 3.1 trillion miles – that pummels the 2007 record by 150 billion miles. We’re talking a lot of drive time here.

If you’re in the business of creating business, you’d be crazy if you didn’t take advantage of the many miles and hours that people spend in the car. You might be thinking a billboard will do the trick. If you want to deal with a lease, limited ad time, and high expense, then yes, a billboard is your best bet.

Of course we pose solutions to many advertising and printing problems in this world, and our solution to capturing the attention of drivers is *drumroll please* vehicle wraps.  For the last 16 years, our printing ninjas at Custom Color have been printing and wrapping vehicles while helping brands increase company awareness and potential customer impressions.

Impressions, you say? It’s a word that gets to the heart of what many marketers and business owners are trying to achieve. Our friends at 3M have computed the numbers (we just made this cool graphic) to break down the cost comparison of various advertising mediums. It’s clear that the average cost per thousand for fleet graphics is the most cost-effective advertising tool available.

"The more curves, the better"

Our wrap wizard and in-house chief installer Chubby D (Doug) has been wrapping trucks, busses, vans, planes, boats, and any other transportation mechanism that you can think of since the get-go. Chubby D has a pretty impressive resume – he is 3M trained and certified to apply our wraps, has applied wraps to thousands of vehicles and has been working with signage application for the past 25 years. Doug is a fan of the complex and challenging projects – his work and life motto is “the more curves the better.”

Graphics installs can go catastrophically wrong – all it takes is an inexperienced designer or installer, poor printing, incorrect installation processes or a perfect storm of all of these things. You’ve already learned that Doug is a highly qualified installer; however, that’s only half the battle. Doug works with the highest-quality prints that are straight from our Lenexa presses. Vehicles are wrapped in 3M 180-C, a stretchy substrate that conforms to flat surfaces with and without rivets, simple curves, compound curves and corrugations. This material has air release channels for bubble-free graphic installation and is finished with 8518 laminate for a super high-gloss finish that is similar to a paint job. Latex inks, the most durable outdoor inks available, make your designs come to life and last for five to seven years.

Some of our most famous projects that we’ve conquered include food trucks and merchandising solutions for APEX Specialty Vehicles, a Bacardi Speed Boat, Miller Lite Super Bowl trailer, and a variety of busses, trucks, and vans for Tech N9ne and other rappers – yep you read that right, we were wrappers for rappers. We were even honored to wrap a traveling health awareness bus for Ford motors.

Numbers don’t lie – you’re in business, you know what we’re talking about. Drive time and impressions alone should be enough to make you hop on the wrapped vehicle bandwagon. If you want to preserve your brand’s franchise and reach people when they least expect it, remember that a quality vehicle wrap is the most high-impact, high-visible medium with the greatest head-turning capability.

You probably want your vehicle to join our repertoire of sweet projects…or maybe you just want to meet Chubby D, either way, you should contact us for a free consultation.

Questions Answered: Why YOU Need Large Format Printing

LeSportsac's party is one that we'd want to attend.

One of the questions that often come up in conversation is, “Why, in a digital age, does *insert organization name here* need large format printing?” Because we’re in the business, we can think of (literally) a million reasons why large format printing is more relevant now than ever – because the inquirers aren’t in the business, we keep the answer short and sweet.

Here is the best reason why you must incorporate large format printing into your campaigns:

It’s, hands-down, the easieset way to attract customers, increase brand awareness and boost sales.

We live in a world where customers attention spans are shorter than a goldfish. Seriously. A study conducted by Microsoft found that people can boast only 12 seconds of coherent thought. In a mall, or similar establishment, the different sights, smells and sounds test customer’s attention spans. We’re here to say the best way to attract customers is through large format printing.

We tell our customers that window displays, product signage, and other visual marketing should be considered an invitation to your party. Not only are you attracting the passersby aesthetically, you’re tapping into customer’s emotions and setting the foundation for a profitable connection in the future.

Think about your own shopping habits: when you’re taking a stroll through the mall, what entices you to walk into a store? While it may be the color of the walls or the spacious dressing rooms, customers are more likely lured into your store by the aesthetics of your signage in the windows, displays on the tables and racks and even branding on the floors. If your large format marketing is superior to other businesses, you will win the attention of shoppers.

Great Job! Your customer accepts the invitation to your party and enters your store – now what’s the point of large format printing? Imagine if you will, magazines at the grocery store check out line, bins of toys or other knick-knacks, isle cap displays, and even food sample stations – these are point of purchase (POP) displays, and they work. Impulse purchasing is something that you may scoff at as a consumer – however; as a business owner, POP promotions are one of the greatest sales tools.

According to research, almost 66% of all buying decisions are made while people are in the store shopping. Even better, 53% of these decisions are classified as impulse buying.  (When have you ever gone into the grocery store and successfully left with only the items on your list? That’s what we thought.)

We construct countless Point-of-Purchase and Point-of-Sale (POS) displays. Disposable displays are most often made from cardboard, coroplast, Gatorboard or other strong and rigid material. Non-disposable displays, like backlit fabric frames and non-lit standees, are becoming a favorite of our customers as well. POP and POS promotions present effective persuasive messaging, create a high-perceived value for your products and ultimately increase your retail sales.

It’s obvious why you need large format printing – you don’t want to be passed up solely because of your inability to catch your potential customer’s attention. Surely you don’t want to miss an impulse sale just because you aren’t employing POP or POS displays.

Maybe you know exactly what you’re looking for when it comes to large format printing, or perhaps you don’t have a clue – either way, the print ninjas at Custom Color are here to collaborate with you to get your large format printing campaigns rolling off the press and into your stores. We don’t want any more customers to miss your party, so let us help you make the greatest invitation of all time.
